Inspirational Message from a 19-year-old Man Who Was Raised by a Same-Sex Couple

A few days ago, I posted a video of Barbara Bush declaring her support of marriage equality. Well, another video has surfaced showing a young Iowa man, Zach Wahls, addressing his state's House of Representatives, asking its members not to vote in favor of an amendment that would prohibit same-sex marriage. Unfortunately, the amendment received enough support, which means that discrimination against same-sex couples is now codified into law in that state. Despite this unfortunate result in Iowa,…See More

Last CPAC Post. I Promise!

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 11:30pm 0 Comments

Ok, I’m sure you’re tired of my endless posts about CPAC and conservatives. I’m sorry; I know it’s painful, but please bear with me. Jane Goodall observed chimpanzees in the wild; I observe conservatives with equal interest. So, back to blogging about conservatives--yes, we know that Ron Paul won the CPAC straw poll. He had a strong base of supporters and he delivered a sold speech at this year’s meeting (see video below). To be honest, he’s starting to sound like a broken record, BUT he’s…

Ron Paul Wins Again

Posted on February 13, 2011 at 12:31am 0 Comments

In case you haven't heard, Ron Paul won this year's CPAC straw poll. I predicted that he would do well, but I wasn't actually expecting him to win. I guess "The Donald" underestimated Ron Paul supporters. I think we all did. I'm not sure exactly what this means. I discussed this very issue with friends a few hours ago, and most of them dismissed Ron Paul's victory. Ezra Klein tweeted, "My understanding is that the correlation between "who wins CPAC" and "who wins GOP nomination" is near…

Is John Thune the New "Golden Boy" of the Republican Party?

Posted on February 12, 2011 at 12:00am 0 Comments

In my previous post, I emphasized the absurdity of Donald Trump addressing CPAC attendees. However, I have to admit that “The Donald” made one important point that is worth repeating. In response to jeers from the audience, he replied, “by the way, Ron Paul cannot get elected. I’m sorry to tell you.” Oh, Donald, you certainly “tell it like it is.”

Republicans have always struggled with the issue of electability. There was a time when many conservatives viewed Sarah Palin as…
