I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic. Arrived to the US in 2000 just in time for high school. Graduated from Buffalo State College and currently reside in Washington, DC. Love to read, blog, play volleyball, i'm very involved and plan to become a Peace Corps volunteer.
I'm Gerry Vazquez from Long Island, NY -- home of 1.5MM Latinos! Actually, it's the largest concentration of Latinos in the NE, with a purchasing power in excess of $30b.
I'm a consultant w/a speciality in starting charter schools and related innovative community initiatives by day, and a crusading pro-Latino, pro-immigrant, progressive blogger by night (and on weekends). See American Taino, The Vazquez Report, Ya Basta! and Latino New York, et al, for timely dispatches and commentaries from the front lines of the New America. I take no prisoners!
What I'd like to see? The formation of a powerful Latino political and economic bloc for progressive change in the US and across the hemispshere.
