Born and raised in East Los Angeles, (insert favorite born in East LA line here). It seems that every latino across the nation has a preconceived notion about East LA. What's yours?
From the same small town Matt grew up in West Texas, Van Horn. http://twitter.com/rmendez1
Born and raised en La Villita (aka Little Village aka 26th Street NOT aka Pilsen) in Chicago. Illinois grad and sports fan. Now a journalist for 10 years - OMG! - en el Nuevo Sur, Charlotte, N.C. I (try to) write a blog en espanol, translate some local stories and try to keep la comunidad informed. Need to perfect my Spanish and Spanglish, one of which will survive I guess. Hoping it's the former, tho.

Twitteando as @RoMustGo and @EntereseCLT

I was born and raised in San Jose (okay most of you are too young to know that Dionne Warwick song), California. I spent four years in Palo Alto then got married and moved to Santa Monica, California and later to Glendale where I lived from 1980 until 2004. At that point only one of the kids was with me and I moved to Santa Rosa, California. Last August when the youngest turned 18, I moved to Portland, Oregon. Now I live alone here (oh, I forgot to say I have been divorced since 1992).

I did the full time mom and perpetual volunteer thing for my three kids until I went to work teaching (grade school) until 2002 when I was in a car accident in L.A. and I haven't been able to work since.

I write. I blog. I edit other's work.

Ahhh...I love this question. How many times have I (we) been asked this.? Usually it's just a general inquire but sometimes it's like..."obviously you're not from here, where are you from"? Nombre, it's all good. Especially in this context of twitteros, verdad? –

So I was born in Seguin, Texas (Tejano) then grew up in the Willamette Valley (Willamette rhymes with damn-it) - Woodburn, Gervais, Salem (Chicano). But for the last 21 years I have been in Columbus, Ohio (Latino). That's right herman@s there are plenty of Hispanics/Latin@s in Ohio. We are growing! And not only that, soy Buckeye de Ohio State. A buckeye looks like a giant ojo de venado...one of those magical protectors against the "evil eye".

And you know what? You Texas fans are gunna need one of those magical protectors when we meet you at the Fiesta Bowl…lol

Adelante y iSi Se Puede! Looking forward to this!! - GO BUCKS!!!
Have you heard about the crazy weather we're having in the Willamette Valley? Biggest thing since 1980, they're saying. PDX closed for second consecutive day. I-84 closed since Saturday morning. Everything is at a stand still.
