Predictions for 2009
Could be Latino-related or not. I just want to hear what your thoughts/predictions are for this coming year.
Here are mine:
1.) Latinos will be more influential in their spheres of influence. Democrat, Republican, or Independent, take a look at the appointments to the Obama administration.
2.) Mexico will continue to be a violent place as a result of the drug wars. When will there ever be a middle class?
3.) The economy will hopefully pick-up by this summer, but hopefully Americans (companies and consumers) will become more responsible.
4.) The iPhone will continue to kick ass. Innovation will flourish in all sectors. Companies will realize that this is at the core of their success.
That's just a start. I'll try to update as more respond. But, I truly think that this year will change the country...politically, culturally, and philosophically!

As a result of the new political gains made, I certainly foresee the possibility of a cure coming out for those afflicted with multiple sclerosis, if not other diseases. The personal responsibility we must be willing to take in the near future will lead us to bigger and better things, God willing.
We will hopefully continue to see innovation flourish as Matt states. We will hopefully erase the political dichotomy that strains our country.

Some of the predictions that could result for the new year:
1. Latinos will continue to insert themselves in the political arena.
2. The economy will regain strength at a slower than expected pace, but will definitely respond to the injection of money and hopefully jobs.
3. Constituents must be patient, the changes that Obama will make will take time given the condition Bush has left our country.
4. Apple will continue to battle with Microsoft and continue to give its consumers new toys.
5. The Steelers will win the Superbowl. (this one is far-fetched, but ...)

I hope you're right about #1. If it doesn't go to their heads, we'll get far. I remember having high hopes for this when Clinton announced his appointments then it all went downhill.

I'm going to add all of Latin America to #2 Matt, if you don't mind. But also, one must also look into the current news cycle- Cuba is finally inaugurating Raul Castro as their Presidente, which I doubt will change much, but on a semi-positive note, he's at least expressed that he's willing to meet with Obama. Sadly, though, I believe Cuba is stuck in the same rut with the (not significantly) younger Castro.

Oh, I almost forgot my most important prediction... The San Antonio Spurs will be the 2009 NBA Champions. Yes, I know it's too early to determine this, and with the play of the LA Lakers, Boston Celtics, and Cleveland Cavaliers it seems laughable, but I don't give up on my team! (Plus, the Spurs have 2 Argentinos- Emmanuel Ginobili and Fabricio Oberto. Fab might be hurt right now, and Manu might still not be at 100% after his ankle surgery post the 2008 Olympics, but I still have faith in them.)
